Steven B. Schomaeker, age 66 of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
 He was born on March 29, 1958 to William and Arla (Sager) Schomaeker in Lima, Ohio. Steven proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy. He worked for AA Fire Extinguishers for several years. Steven enjoyed camping, watching football, and absolutely loved being with his grandkids, they were everything to him. He was an “Amazing Paw-Paw” and would do anything for them. Steven will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
 Steven is survived by his children, Stefanie (Robert Griner II) Schomaeker of Bryan, OH, Stephen Schomaeker of Defiance, and Matthew Schomaeker of St. Louis, MO, and five grandchildren which include Ayden, Sylas and Robert “RJ” Griner, III; and Mason and Addison Schomaeker. He also leaves behind his siblings, John (Jennifer) Schomaeker of Atlanta, GA, Roberta (Dave) Morris of Defiance, Clarisse Rene (Bob) Lunsford of Wolcottville, IN, Jackie (Kevin) Hoschak of Defiance, Dennis Birkemeyer of Greensburg, IN, Joel (Marti) Little of Salem, OH, Cindy Goldenetz of Defiance, Kara Karam of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, Chris (Mark) Shiarla of Defiance, Lynn (Jon) Frohriep of Bronson, MI, and Melissa (Todd) Miller of Vicksburg, MI.
 He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Arla Schomaeker, and his good friends Mark Mattocks and Steven Diehl.
 A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at the Defiance VFW Post#3360 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to gather in his honor. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
