FINDLAY (formerly of Ottawa) Robert D. Maher, 78 of Findlay (formerly of Ottawa), died 6:16 p.m., Friday, December 27, 2024, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay. He was born May 16, 1946, in Van Wert to the late Richard and Phyllis (Poling) Maher. On May 14, 1996, he married Patricia Caperton, and she survives in Findlay.
Other survivors include three children and six grandchildren: Jason (Mégan) Maher of Rocky River with their children, Jack, Emma and Sebastian; Jodi (Jacob) Huntoon of Ft. Myers, FL and their children, Claire, Hudson and Simone; and Anthony (Ali) Maher of Columbus; three siblings: Mary Ann (Richard) Bogart of Columbus, John (Kathryn) Maher of Centerburg and Marcia (Scot) Osenga of Van Wert; a stepbrother, Andy (Lori) Maher of Montpelier, IN.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Randy Maher; and a stepfather, Patrick Maher.
Bob had a 50-year career in the investment and finance industry, most recently served 30 years as a life insurance agent with New York Life. He was a proud graduate of Bowling Green State University. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and had been regularly attending St. Michael’s Catholic Church while living in Findlay. Bob was a longtime member of the Ottawa Kiwanis Club and also on the Board of Directors for Brookhill Industries. He loved St. Patrick’s Day, boating, dancing, cars and always enjoyed a great meal.
Funeral mass will begin at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 3, 2025, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Adam Hertzfeld officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
