Reyes V. Garcia, Sr.

OTTAWA Reyes V. García, Sr., 88, of Ottawa died 8:30 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2024, at the Meadows of Leipsic. He was born January 5, 1936, in San Antonio, TX to the late Fransico and Isabel (Vigil) Garcia. On February 1, 1956, he married Minerva Rivera, who preceded him in death on August 29, 2007. He is survived by 4 children: Reyes (Elida) Garcia, Jr of Leipsic, David (Maricella) Garcia of Texas, Michael (Sandra) Garcia of Leipsic and Elvira M. (Jose) Perez of Ottawa; 21 grandchildren; 46 greatgrandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren and 2 brothers: George Garcia and Antonio Garcia, both of San Antonio. Preceding him in death is a daughter: Juanita Alivizo and 3 brothers: Frank Garcia, Jr., Diego Garcia and Arnolfo Garcia; and a sister: Elena Quintanilla.

Reyes was a retired truck driver for the City of San Antonio and was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. Reyes was a talented musician and loved playing the drums and guitar. He was an avid OSU fan and enjoyed cheering for the Minnesota Vikings, Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians. He loved to play softball with his sons and was a pitcher. He also enjoyed shooting pool. The funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Father Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and again from 9 to 10 a.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. There will be a scripture service at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
