Norman E. Schroeder

OTTAWA Norman E. Schroeder, 88, of Ottawa, passed away at 7:18 a.m. on Friday, September 13, 2024 at his residence with his loving wife by his side. He was born July 3, 1936, in Ottawa to the late Richard H. and Rovena (Kruse) Schroeder. On April 1, 1959, he married Evelyn C. Schumaker, who survives in Ottawa. Norman is also survived by three children: Randy (Pam) Schroeder of Leipsic, Annette (Robert “Bur”) Warren and Julie (Daryl) Brooks of Ottawa; seven grandchildren: Ryan (LeeAnn) Schroeder, Erin (Michael) Butler, Derek (Melissa) Warren, Lacy (Eric) Wilk, Jasmine (Kyle) Hatcher, Lee (Morgan) Brooks and Lane Brooks; and ten great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Leon Schroeder. Norman was a lifelong farmer, a truck driver for Ward Construction for 33 years and veteran of the US National Guard. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. He and his wife, Evelyn, wintered in Texas for 25 years. Norman enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre, and spending time with his friends and family. Funeral Mass will begin 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Leipsic.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday and one hour prior to the Mass on Tuesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. A scripture service will begin at 7:50 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
