CAPE CORAL, FL (formerly of Ottawa) – Natalie “Nanny” Schroeder, 69, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Ambulatory Care Center, Glandorf, twelve years to the day after her mother. She was born March 10, 1956, in Lima to the late John and Rena (McDonald) Kruse. On March 6, 1976, she married the love of her life, Charlie Schroeder, who survives in Cape Coral, FL.
Natalie is also survived by three daughters: Jennifer (Brad) Horstman of Kalida, Ashley (Jeremy) Young of Miller City and Sarah (Todd) Sunderhaus of Ottawa, as well as her bonus daughter, Gina (David) Cooper of Kalida; nine grandchildren: Jayce, Joel and Jax Horstman, Serenity (Dylan Musgrave) Young, Rori Butcher and Tucker, Samantha, Charlee and Zachary Sunderhaus; three great-grandchildren: Asher Young, Ashton Musgrave and Brooks Musgrave; six siblings: Lynn (Darrell) Bradley, Alan (Shelly) Kruse, Steve (Jane) Schroeder, Mike (Sue) Schroeder, Linda Calvelage and Karen (Doug) Schroeder; many beloved nieces and nephews; and amazing neighbors, Carol and John Welty & girls and Tracy Henry.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her father-in-law, George Schroeder, mother-in-law, Ruth Schroeder, brother-in-law, Dan Calvelage, and her rotten bird, Kiwi.
Natalie was a 1974 graduate of Miller City High School. She loved vacationing with her family, taking care of her plants, bird watching, playing solitaire, enjoying the sun at their Cape Coral house and spending time with her grandchildren.
Natalie worked in home health in Dayton. She also formerly worked at Maag’s Hotel and Phillips Cafeteria. She then worked at the Bombshelter, where she retired. She was a member of the Ottawa American Legion and Leipsic Eagles.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland with Fr. Scott Perry officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
