Mary was a homemaker and very proud to say she was the 1950 Valedictorian of Milton Center High School. She was a faithful member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida, and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. In the last several years she found joy in being a Prayer Partner for Mary Grote’s religious education class. Mary was the ultimate support for her husband John in his many endeavors serving the community of Kalida, the local and state Lions Clubs and the VFW. She was the rock of her family and loved supporting and spending time with her grandchildren, who will always cherish the times they spent listening to her share her wisdom mixed with some quick wit and sometimes even some sassiness. She enjoyed playing card games throughout her life and had a deceivingly competitive streak.
Mary’s funeral mass will begin 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Phil Smith and Fr. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township.
