OTTOVILLE – Marjorie A. Byrne, 71, of Ottoville, passed away at 7:00 a.m. on May 20, 2025, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. She was born April 25, 1954, in Lima to Elmer and Rosemary (Koester) Markward, her father precedes her in death, her mother survives in Ottoville. On November 9, 1974, she married Terry Byrne, he survives in Ottoville.
Marjorie is also survived by three daughters: Tracy (Ben) Collins of Van Wert, Jennifer (Nicholas) Reinhart of Ottawa, and Suzanne (Jon) Campbell of Van Wert; Margie’s memory will live on in her seven grandchildren: Dylan Byrne, Caden and Grayson Collins, Noel and Ava Reinhart, Conner and Lola Campbell; four brothers: Kenneth (Carol) Markward, Thomas (Barb) Markward, Jerry (Lois) Markward, Scott (Sandy) Markward, all of Ottoville; a sister: Nancy (Carl) Byrne, also of Ottoville; and her mother-in-law: Carol Byrne.
Along with her father she is also preceded in death by her father-in-law, Hubie Byrne.
Margie was the manager of the Ottoville School Cafeteria, where she had worked for 31 years. She loved her work in the cafeteria, and she loved each and every kid.
Her grandchildren were her entire world; she loved spending time and supporting each of them, never missing a school event, sporting event or dance recital. Margie loved playing rummy/cards with them, taking them shopping, sewing up their favorite stuffed animal, braiding their hair, and planting flowers with them. She even taught them the Hokey Pokey! Margie enjoyed family vacations at the beach. She was the best gift giver. Margie loved her family unconditionally; she will always be their feeling of home.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, with Very Reverend George Mahas officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township, and again, on Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. The family requests that casual dress is preferred.
