LEON ”PETE” SIEFKER

Leon “Pete” Siefker, 90, of Columbus Grove, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at The Meadows of Ottawa. He was born in Glandorf on January 26, 1935, to Lawrence and Dorthea (Inkrott) Siefker. He was married to Patricia J. Schulte on June 28, 1958, and she preceded him in death.
 He is survived by his daughters, Tammy (Bill) Schroeder, Deb (Kevin) Barto and Sandy (Doug) Carpenter all of Columbus Grove. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Luella (Sal) Siefker and Irena Siefker. Eight grandchildren, Brian (Amy) Schroeder, Valerie (Jake) Pingle, Justin (Jackie) Barto, Lori (Seth) Schroeder, Genna (Curtis) Blankenship, Drew (Abbey Rieman) Barto, Nathan (Amber) Schroeder, Samuel Carpenter and nineteen great grandchildren.
 He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Alvin and Doris Siefker, Amos and Betty Siefker, Rose and Fred Fortman, Alice and Arnold Gable, Dorothy and Ed Wichman, Arline and Hayden Snyder, Norbert Siefker, Kenneth Siefker and Donald and Alice Siefker, great grandchildren Carson Henry Carpenter and Kennedy Rose Schroeder and in-laws John and Dorthy Schenk and Floyd and Marilyn Kuhlman.
 Leon graduated from Glandorf School, Class of 1953. From there he was in the Presidential Honor Guard 3rd Infantry Company D, Fort Myer, Virginia from 1955-1957. He went to Andrew’s Barber School, 1957-1958 and worked for Waldo’s Barber Shop, Columbus Grove from 1958-1964. He then went on to work for ScotLad foods for 31 years from 1964-1995. Upon retirement he continued to work part time at Hartman & Son’s Funeral Home and Northwest Fuel Injection. He refinished furniture and antiques in his spare time. He also enjoyed coaching, desserts, playing cards especially poker, camping at Huggy Bear Campgrounds and watching his grandkids and great grandkids sporting events. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Knights of Columbus, Ottawa Eagles #2234, and American Legion Post 516.
 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am Thursday, May 8, 2025, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, OH with FR. David Ritchie officiating. Visitation is on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 3-8pm at Hartman-Rousculp Community Funeral Home, 10879 SR OH-12 Columbus Grove. Burial to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery with military honors.
