GLANDORF Leland G. “Butch” Meyer, 75, of Glandorf, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. He was born July 26, 1949, in Lima to the late Sylvester and Marie (Luebrecht) Meyer. On June 23, 1979, he married the love of his life, Jean M. Hermiller, who survives in Glandorf.
He is also survived by two children: Jason (Leah) Meyer of Glandorf and Kevin (Katie) Meyer of Glandorf; six grandchildren: Wyatt, Evelyn, Chase, Riley, Hayes and Lottie; six siblings: Germaine Stasell of New Haven, IN, Gerry Meyer of Ottawa, Joyce (Tom) Catalioti, Ruth (Steve) Hovan, both of Cleveland, Sharon (Dave) Hermiller of Glandorf, Greg (Denise) Meyer of Houston, TX; and a sister-in-law, Helen Meyer of Ottawa.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Meyer; a sister-in-law, Karen Meyer; and a brother-in-law, Norm Stasell.
Butch was a tool maker, owned and operated a hydraulic repair shop and dedicated his life to his family and his farm. He was a lifelong farmer, who took pride in hard work and dedication, passing this trait down to his children and grandchildren. Butch was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, the Eagles and the NRA. He was quick-witted, optimistic and easy-going. Butch loved music, traveling, working in the shop, restoring old tractors and spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Matt Keller officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
