John E. Kahle
OTTAWA John E. Kahle, 84, of Ottawa passed into the arms of his Savior at 8:50 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Meadows of Ottawa. He was born in Ottawa on May 28, 1941, to the late Edwin and Emma (Duling) Kahle. He graduated from Sts. Peter and Paul High School in 1959 and went on to marry his freshman year “dance partner”, Virginia “Ginny” Stechschulte on November 23, 1963.
John always loved electrical work and started his own electrical contracting business in 1962. In addition to electrical work, he loved fixing things and continued to do both almost until the day he died. He also enjoyed helping people in need and praying the rosary.
He was a devoted member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and a former extra ordinary minister of the Holy Eucharist to the homebound. He was a member of the Ottawa K. of C., life member of the Ottawa Eagles and a member of the IAEI.
John loved his wife, Ginny, and together they had 4 sons: Jamey (Pam) Kahle, Rob (Kim) Kahle, John (Nadine) Kahle, all of Ottawa and Randy (Kim) Kahle of Glandorf. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of his life. They include Austin (Trish) Kahle, Ashley (Jared) Atterberry, Nathan (Brittany) Kahle all of Ottawa, Justin (Melanie) Kahle of Japan, Kendra Kahle, Emma Kahle and Ben Kahle, Jeron (Katie) Kahle, Jake (Stephanie) Kahle all of Ottawa, Brent (Rachel) Kahle, Tyler (Emily Blankemeier) Kahle, Ryan (Abbie Long) Kahle and Grant Kahle all of Glandorf; and 14 great-grandchildren. John is also survived by a 2 sisters Jean (Bob) Clark and Rose (Mick) Miklasevich; brother: Keith (Judy) Kahle; in-laws: Doris Diller, Len Kruse and Paul (Betty) Stechschulte; a special niece and nephew, Joy and Mark Diller who helped him so much, adopted family friends, Chris and Jen Recker and family and well as many nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by a sister: Pat (Bill) Kleman; in-laws: Nolan Diller, Linda Stechschulte and Ruth Kruse.
There will be a memorial mass at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Father Scott Kramer, Father Rick Frieble and Deacon Dave Maas officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa and again from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. There will be a scripture service at 1:45 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Father Scott, Father Rick, Deacon Dave, the staff and residents of the Meadows of Ottawa, Putnam County Hospice and their many families and friends for their continued thoughts, prayers and frequent visits during this difficult time. Your thoughtfulness did not go unnoticed and will never be forgotten.
