Jerry C. Doty, age 81, died October 11, 2024 in Lima, Ohio. He was born August 15, 1943, the son of Lois VanBrunt, who preceded him in death. A graduate of Columbus Grove High School, Jerry also received a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Ohio Norther University and a Master’s degree in Education from Miami University, and a second Master’s degree from Wright State University.

He was a retired school teacher with the Harmon Elementary School in Oakwood School District, Dayton, Ohio, retiring after 30 years. Jerry’s hobbies included gardening and nature, and he was an avid reader. Survivors include two brothers Jim (Carol) Doty, and Don (Jane) Doty; three sisters Patricia Smith, Doris (Bill) Snoke, and JoLynn Yates, one sister-in-law Barbara Doty, and sixteen nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his brother Ron Doty, his twin brother Larry Doty, and his nephew Chris Doty. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home in Columbus Grove where friends may call from 10:00am until Noon.

A funeral service will be held at Noon with Pastor Dan Doty presiding, burial to follow in Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove. The family has asked in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Columbus Grove Public Library.
