JEANNE MARIE HAWKINS

Jeanne Marie Hawkins passed away peacefully on June 5th at the age of 78 under the care of Faith Hospice, with her family by her side. Born June 26, 1946, to Amos and Blanche (Ball) Morman, Jeanne grew up on the family farm in Continental, Ohio. She graduated from Miller City High School in 1964 and remained close to her classmates with whom she recently celebrated their 60th class reunion.
Jeanne married Bruce Hawkins in 1989. They spent their time together travelling and the Florida Keys was a favorite vacation spot. They also enjoyed entertaining friends and family. They loved being grandparents and tending the lawn and their beautiful gardens together.
Jeanne was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She had many interests and excelled at them all. Her passion was gardening and arranging flowers. She was devoted to her faith and was an active member of Our Lady of Consolation parish in Rockford, Michigan. She was a very creative person and worked very hard at everything she did.
Jeanne was never without a little sparkle, and you always knew where she had been by the trail of glitter left behind. Her best advice if you were feeling down, was to, “fix your hair, pick out a nice outfit, and put on a smile. When you look good, you feel good.” It goes without saying, that includes a little sparkle. She will be dearly missed by her many friends and family and that there will be a little less sparkle in the world.
Jeanne is survived by her children, Tina Dawson, Tammy (Ron) Ducharme, James (Carrie) Hoffman, her grandchildren Luke and Grace Dawson, Ronnie and Abby Ducharme, and August and Annabel Hoffman, her older brother, Joseph Morman, and several nieces and nephews. Jeanne was pre-deceased by her parents, her husband, her son-in-law, Mark Dawson, and an infant brother.
Visitation will be at Pederson Funeral Home in Rockford, Michigan on Monday, June 9th from 4pm 8pm, with a rosary following at 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Our Lady of Consolation Church in Rockford, Michigan on Tuesday, June 10th at 11:00am, with visitation starting at 10:00 am. There will be a luncheon following the service.
Interment will be at a later date in St. Isidore’s Cemetery, Cuba, Ohio, next to her parents, which is just a short walk from her childhood home.
Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Consolation Parish Garden Ministry or Fatih Hospice. If you choose to send flowers, Jeanne lived by the mantra, “You can never have too many flowers or too much bling.”
