Frank R. Schroeder
KALIDA – Frank R. Schroeder, 75 of Kalida, died 1:48 a.m., Sunday, October 19, 2025 at his residence. He was born January 5, 1950 at home in Kalida to the late Hugo and Magdalena (Buss) Schroeder. On September 21, 1973, he married Dorothy J. Birkemeier and she survives in Kalida.
Other survivors include four children: Wayne Schroeder of Lima, Ryan (Teresa) Schroeder of Kalida, Bruce (Whitney) Schroeder and Suzie (James) Ford both of Hilliard; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; seven siblings: Angela Maag, Betty Schroeder, Alex (Nancy) Schroeder, Fr. Steven Schroeder, Jo Anna Rieman, Ted (Judy) Schroeder and Rita (Stan) Kuhlman; a sister-in-law, Theresa Gable; and a brother-in-law, Ken Unterbrink.
He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Faith Ford; siblings: George Schroeder, John Schroeder, Verena Schmitz and Eleanor Unterbrink; brothers-in-law: Delbert Maag, Norbert Rieman and Elmer Schmitz; and sister-in-law, Marcella Schroeder.
Frank was a graduate of The Ohio State University in 1972 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Education. He was a high school History/Vo Ag teacher and fulltime farmer of grain and Angus Cattle as well as hay and straw merchant to the Amish of Eastern Ohio. Frank was a veteran who served in the Ohio Air Force National Guard. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida.
Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 23, 2025 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Joseph Varghese and Fr. Steven Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, OTTAWA and one hour prior to the mass Thursday at the church. A rosary service will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
