ELMER J. LANGHALS
Elmer J. Langhals, 84, of Columbus Grove, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at The James Cancer Hospital. He was born on August 21, 1940, to the late Carl and Veronica (Schroeder) Langhals. On October 26, 1963, he married Kathleen Hoffman who preceded him in death.
He retired from Ford Motor Company, Lima, after 36 years. For 52 years, from 1969 2021, he and Kathie owned and operated the Rainbow Party Shop, Columbus Grove. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church. He proudly served his country in the US Army. He was a member of the VFW Post 9648, Columbus Grove, American Legion Post 516, Columbus Grove, UAW Union 1219, Knights of Columbus and previous member of St. Anthony’s Advisory Council. Elmer enjoyed watching sports, especially the Indians/Guardians, Cavaliers, Browns and the Columbus Grove Bulldogs. He liked traveling and going to his grandchildren’s events.
He is survived by his children, Pam Langhals, Paul (Sandy) Langhals, Paula (Mike) Parish, Pete Langhals, Chris (Mike) Grigsby, Cindy (Aaron) Stechschulte; grandchildren, Brett (Payton), Ashley (Dash), Lindsay (Clayton), Breanne, Jerry (Alysa), Brandon (Chassidy), Elizabeth, Hannah (Matt), Jacob, Rob, Roy, Daisy, Autumn and Ariel; great-grandchildren, Wayne, Reghan, Ridge, Jace, Jesse and Brooks; siblings, Ruth Wilson, Pat Neils, Ken (Diane) Langhals, Alvie (Deb) Langhals, Henry (Beth) Langhals, Julie (Lou) Balkany, Kelly (Larry) Anderson. He is also preceded in death by son, Patrick Langhals and siblings, Jim Langhals and Sister Marie Langhals.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, OH with Fr. David Ritchie officiating with visitation one hour prior at Hartman-Rousculp Community Funeral Home 10879 SR OH-12 Columbus Grove. Visitation is also on Monday, August 4, 2025, from 2-8pm at Hartman-Rousculp Community Funeral Home with a rosary service to follow. Burial at St. Anthony Cemetery with military honors.
