Dennis “Denny” Halker

LEIPSIC – Dennis “Denny” Halker, 75, of Leipsic, passed away peacefully at 4:02 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 31, 1949, in Lima to the late James and Ida Mae (Croy) Halker. On September 12, 1970, he married the love of his life, Janelda T. Halker, who preceded him in death on January 18, 2018.
 Survivors include his four beloved children: Tracy (Tami) Halker, Stacy Halker, Kacy (Sean) Duling and Bracy (Neoma) Halker; eleven adored grandchildren: Zach, Tori and Blake Duling, Madison, Carson, Allison and Jackson Halker, and Teyton, Trevor, Toby and Trey Halker; and eight siblings: Jimmy (Diana) Halker, Gary (Lisa) Halker, Linda (Jeff) Glorioso, Mike (Pam) Halker, Greg (Shirley) Halker, Pam (Ron) Keysor, Mark (Cindy) Halker and Rick (Joyce) Halker.
 In addition to his parents and beloved wife, he was also preceded in death by a special relative, Agnes Schumacher.
 Denny dedicated his life to his family and community. He was a pillar of the community, having worked at Kohl’s Supermarket, Ottawa for an impressive 60 years. Denny was known for his kind heart, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
 Beyond his professional life, Denny found joy in the great outdoors. He was a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop #222, instilling a love of nature and a sense of adventure and leadership in countless young minds. He cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and found immense happiness in their laughter and smiles. He also loved Rock Steady Boxing and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Denny was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
 Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. Tony Fortman and Fr. Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic, as well as 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Mary’s Parish Life Center, Leipsic.
