OTTAWA – David R. “Dave” Maag, 60, of Ottawa, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at his residence. He was born July 15, 1964, in Lima to the late Larry and Jeanette (Recker) Maag. He is survived by Larry’s surviving spouse, Beverly Maag.
Dave is also survived by his two children: Kirsten Maag of Wadsworth and Tim (Marissa) Maag of Ottawa; three siblings: Roger (Nita) Maag of Celina, Mary Rose (Kevin) Ellerbrock and Sharon (Steve) Brown, both of Glandorf; and he leaves behind his Grant Street Tavern family.
He is also preceded in death by a sister, Rose Ann Maag.
Dave worked for Kohls Market in Ottawa for 45 years. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and the Ottawa Eagles. Dave was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Ohio State Buckeyes and Nascar. He loved his family, trips to Grand Lake, St. Mary’s, Thursday night chicken and beer trips and recycling things out of his garage. Above all, Dave was very proud of his kids.
Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 19, 2025, at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with Fr. Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Ottawa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
