Columbus Grove-Carole E. Striff, 64, passed away peacefully in her home at 9:41 a.m. on September 26th, 2024. She was born January 13, 1960 in Lima to Harry Cunningham and Etheleen Gross Cunningham. LAURA E. ”ELOISE” WINDAU

Laura E. “Eloise” Windau, age 91, of Columbus Grove, passed away on September 28, 2024. Eloise was born February 2, 1933, to Clarence and Lenora (Thomas) Martz. On September 8, 1951, she married Clayton John Windau Jr., who passed away on October 1, 1970. Eloise attended Columbus Grove High School and was a cafeteria worker at the school from the 1970’s thru the 1990’s. Recently the school and a lot of her school “kids” honored her for her years of service with a copy of the 1951 school yearbook and an interview. Widowed at age 37 she raised her six children. What an example of great strength and determination! She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Society. Eloise had many jobs including managing the VFW of which she was a member, working at Kohls Market and at Weatherseal in Ottawa. Eloise was a huge Ohio State fan and loved her football Saturday spent with all of her family. She also hosted family camping weekends in her backyard with fun for all ages. She was the best Mom and Grandma to all of her “kids”. Eloise is survived by her six children Deborah Pingle, Diane Windau, Dean (Christine) Windau, Janice (Steve) Carpenter, Annette (Daniel) May, and Mark Windau; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren plus one on the way; and one great-great grandchild. Eloise was preceded in death by her three brothers Eugene Martz, Louis Martz and Glenn Martz. Friends may call on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home in Columbus Grove from 2:00 4:00 pm and 6:00 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at Hartman Sons Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 11:00 am with Fr. David Ritchie presiding. Burial will follow in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Ottawa, Ohio. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, or the American Heart Association.

EDEN MARIE LASLEY

Eden Marie Lasley, 23, of Findlay, passed away suddenly on September 16, 2024, as a result of a cartrain accident. She was born on January 5, 2001, the daughter of Steve Lasley and Kristen (Kauble) Lasley. Both parents survive, along with her stepfather, Brian Kohli. Born and raised in Findlay, Ohio, Eden attended Findlay schools all the way up until recently graduating from the University of Findlay with honors with a degree in education. Eden was passionate about teaching the younger generation, especially those with special needs. In her own words: “I love having the responsibility of making a change in our future generations by teaching children the importance of love, grace, and kindness.” She adored working with children through her work tutoring, teaching, and working at the child development center at the YMCA. She was most recently employed by ADS as a customer service representative, later promoted to order validation representative. She genuinely enjoyed her role there and the camaraderie shared with her coworkers. Eden truly had a sense of adventure and loved taking all kinds of trips with her boyfriend, Trey Shisler. She had a deep affection for animals and shared her home with several beloved pets, including her cats Poe, Nyssa, and Raysh; dogs, Dio and Fiona; and Vegeta the chinchilla. She loved spending time outdoors, dancing, and singing. She also loved to express her creativity through beautiful paintings and drawings. Eden will be remembered for being a genuine and beautiful person, inside and out. She was truly a pure soul and will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She touched countless lives during her short life and always knew how to make everyone feel loved and understood. Her nonjudgmental and warmhearted approach to life will continue to serve as an inspiration. Not only was she kind, but she was highly intelligent and a fast learner. LEIPSIC Linda L. Cramer, 83, of Leipsic, passed away at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. She was born June 7, 1941, in Bluffton to the late John C. and Ruth E. (Gangle) Phillips. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic with Pastor Marcella Ciccotelli officiating. Burial will follow in Harman Cemetery, Gilboa with military rites by Leipsic VFW, Leipsic American Legion, Amvets and DAV. HELEN B. WISWELL

Helen B. Wiswell, age 99, of Columbus Grove, passed away on September 22, 2024. Helen was born on October 5, 1924, in Vaughnsville, Ohio, to Daniel W. and Dorothy (Vandemark) Myers. On August 24, 1946, she married Robert E. Wiswell who passed away on January 17, 2013. Helen was a graduate of Vaughnsville High School. She worked hard on the family farm while growing up. She was quite a sewer, making many of her daughters’ dresses. Each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren received a beautiful crocheted blanket. Helen loved the competition of Rummy and rarely lost, she was very competitive. She loved watching any of her “kids” play sports. She was a member of the former Vaughnsville Christian Union Church and the American Legion Post 516 Auxiliary. After her husband retired she enjoyed going with him to deliver flowers for Lugibill Florist, and especially when they stopped for donuts. Helen is survived by her son Danny (Renee) Wiswell of Ottawa; her three daughters Linda (David) Jolliff of Columbus Grove, Patricia Moening of Columbus Grove, and Pamela (Jim) Zerkel of Vaughnsville; and brothers Rev. William E Myers of Blacklick, Ohio, and Allan Myers of Washington Courthouse, Ohio. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren: Lynn Elsberry, Cory (Lori) Wiswell, Kane Wiswell, Tami Arnone, Steven Nienberg, Andrea (Brandon Fenbert) Nienberg, Anita (Eli) Thompson, Brian (Holly) Zarse, Robin Zarse, Angel (Brian) Langhals, Buddy (Stacy) Jolliff, Chad Moening, Tara (Woodford) Roberts Jr., Kiley Moening, Cody Moening, Amy Miller, Andrea (Jake) Grohoske, Jessica (Chris Baxter) Zerkel, and Joni (Chris Chekouras) Zerkel; 47 great grandchildren; and 17 plus 2 on the way great-great grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her brother Richard Myers, two sisters Betty Humphreys and Marilyn Diller and grandchildren Craig Wiswell and Kevin Arnone.
