Gilboa Gazette featured ‘hard-nosed’ Vaughnsville principal

As noted in previous articles in this series, Gilboa actually had a newspaper for five years, from 1978 to 1983. It was called “The Gilboa Gazette.” The editor was Carey Arthur. Arthur noted that part of many of the editions included ‘retro-reporting,’ if you will. A historian at heart, Arthur was forever looking into the history of things, not only in Gilboa, but throughout Putnam County.

Rock piles, park concerns, emotional support chickens discussed in Grove

COLUMBUS GROVE — Joanne McKanna from Columbus Grove’s recreation and parks committee was the first to address village council and shared her concerns, one of which was the continual feeding of ducks in the parks, which is problematic. Feeding ducks can draw skunks, rats and other wildlife, according to McKanna, which she asserts is ‘not a good idea’, and science agrees.

Pandora preschool gets extensive upgrade

PANDORA — In 1988, The Hilty Memorial Home, a skilled nursing and assisted living facility, felt a rush of change when Hilty Preschool and Childcare set up shop in a small portion of their expansive building. The two co-habitated until the end of 2022 when the Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO) made the decision to close the location in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic.
