Ice sculptor visits library

The Putnam County District Library hosted an ice sculptor family fun day on Saturday. In addition to an ice sculptor on the front lawn inside events were also held. This included crafts, a noon movie and hot chocolate. (Putnam Sentinel/Nancy Kline)

Continental 2025 Homecoming Court announced

Continental High School has announced its 2024 Homecoming Court. Maag earns December OptimistCharacter Award

The December 2024 recipient of the Putnam County Optimist Award is Mallorie Maag, nominated by Kristen Gerding-Heffner. Kristen’s nomination states: “Mallorie is a senior at Ottawa-Glandorf High School. She is an exceptional young lady who exemplifies what it means to be positive and optimistic. No matter the task or activity, Mallorie leads through example, encouraging others at all times while always finding ways to improve personally. She sees good in everyone and helps others see/feel it too. Mallorie is an amazing student/assistant teacher at The PAC and employee at The Scoop.

Kalida pioneer stories come to life

KALIDA — America will be celebrating its 250th birthday in 2026 and the state of Ohio is actively building up to this monumental celebration. The American 250 Commission seeks to pay homage to those who came before us and laid the foundation of America. Part of this celebration included grant monies to assist in the funding of projects related to the birth of our country and Union Township of Putnam County was on the receiving end of these funds. Union Township is assigned ownership of the Old Union Township Cemetery located at 106 Evergreen Drive in Kalida.
