Carl W. Schimmoeller, 72, of Ottoville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center. He was born in Lima, OH, on September 11, 1952, to Alfred “Jack” and Lucille (Korte) Schimmoeller. They both preceded him in death. Carl was also preceded in death by his twin sister, Carmen Humes; brother, Michael Schimmoeller; and sister-in-law, Elaine Schimmoeller. Carl is survived by his son, Eric Schimmoeller of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Amy (Josh) Heitman of Fort Jennings, OH; brother, Dennis (Janice) Schimmoeller of Delphos; three grandchildren, Isaac, Isabella, and Isaiah; and brother-in-law, Steve Humes. Carl was a 1974 graduate of Bowling Green University and had a 33-year career with General Dynamics in Lima, OH as a Solid Fuels Engineer and Boiler Operator.
He was an active member of the Fort Jennings American Legion, Ottoville VFW, and Middle Point AMVETS. He also loved celebrating the summer birthdays of his three grandchildren, Isaac in June, Isabella in August, and Isaiah in July, while supporting their educational, athletic, and vocational accomplishments.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 am on Monday, September 23, 2024, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Fort Jennings. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ottoville VFW or the Fort Jennings American Legion.
