Diana Marie Mattern

LEIPSIC – Diana Marie Mattern, 78, of Leipsic, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 6th surrounded by her loving family.
Diana was the daughter of the late Paul and Ella (Brooks) Mansfield, born on April 23rd, 1946. On May 1st, 1965 she married Phillip Vance, who preceded her in death in 1971. On October 6th, 1973 she married James Mattern, after 51 years of love and devotion she will be greatly missed. Diana was the loving mother of five children: Nick (Aaron) Vance, of Findlay; Jeff (Sally) Vance, of McComb; Stephanie (Todd) Nuveman, of Leipsic; Dawn (Jeff) Kracht, of Delaware; and Jacqueline (Jarrod) Mosier, of Haviland.
Diana took great pride in being the best Mammy to 18 grandchildren – Kayla Nuveman, Nate (Erin) Nuveman, Kelly (Branden) Wentworth, Kirsten (Sigurd) Ilestad, Jeffrey Kracht, Samantha Vance, Jacob Vance, Ella Kreyger, Quentin Kreyger, Alivia Mosier, Avery Mosier, Kenny (Megan) Vance, Philip (Grace) Vance, Caroline (Alexander) Moore, Charlie Vance, Michael Vance, Peter Vance, and James Vance; as well as 7 great-grandchildren. Diana was especially fond of her newest great-grandson Brayden, who brought her great joy the last couple months. She was a Mammy to many grandchildren’s friends as well, welcoming all with her infectious laughter, kindness, and unwavering love.
Diana is also survived by three siblings: Paula Thomas, Paul Mansfield Jr (Jim), Lois Crawford and is preceded in death by a sister, Debra Crites (Rodney).
If you knew Diana, you knew the heart of a devoted Christian woman. She was always taking care of someone, putting others before herself, made the best out of every situation, and put her faith above all else. God’s love was seen through her approach and thoughts. She never held a grudge, would do anything for anyone, and just had a compassionate and caring aura about her. No matter what type of day she was having, she always greeted everyone with the biggest smile and twinkle in her eye or a joyful “Good Morning!” followed with a cup of coffee.
Diana loved listening and dancing to music, especially Elvis. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed painting, sewing, and creating her own decorations and Christmas sweaters. But most of all, Diana loved spending time with her family and taking care of others.
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
