FINDLAY – Robert A. Fortman, 68, of Findlay, formerly of Ottawa, passed away at 10:42 a.m. on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at Bridge Hospice, Findlay. He was born October 1, 1956, in Lima to the late Elmer and Alice (Odenweller) Fortman. On August 25, 1979, he married Nancy Haughn. She survives in Findlay.
Other survivors include two children: Jessica (Chad) Lampl of Ft. Mitchell, KY and Ashley (Tom) McIntyre of Santa Barbara, CA; three grandchildren: Abraham, Cecilia and Calvin Lampl; and three sisters: Marcia (Roger) Lammers of Ottawa, Barb (Keith) Hall of Dayton and Mary Jo (Dan) Bockrath of Glandorf.
He was also preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Tim (Linda) Fortman.
Robert graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s in Engineering and went on to earn a Professional Engineering license followed by his MBA at Illinois Benedictine University. He retired from Marathon, Findlay, where he worked as a mechanical engineer. Robert loved spending time with his family and friends, as well as cheering on The Buckeyes. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially watching the wildlife in his backyard, going on bike rides and walking.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
