On September 10, 2024, Carol A. Pitney (Koch) of Columbus Grove, OH passed away peacefully, Carol was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and career nurse. Carol was married to Robert S. Pitney who preceded her in death. They have 3 children: Lee Pitney, Aaron (Kimberly) Pitney, and Katie (Tony) Slone, 8 grandchildren: Cory, TJ, Conner, Autumn, Aidan, Kidd, Caleb, and Braylon and 4 great grandchildren. Carol was born to Edward and Juliana Mittelkamp Koch of Columbus Grove on November 10th, 1949. She had three siblings: Pat (Ed) Birnesser, John (Mary) Koch and Mary (Dan) Verhoff. She is preceded in death by her father and brother.

Carol was a graduate of Columbus Grove High school where she met her husband Robert “Bob”. She followed in her mother’s footsteps and became a Registered Nurse at St. Rita’s Hospital in Lima. She later completed her BS from Defiance College and served as a nurse for 46 years. Carol and Bob were married in 1970 and resided in Vaughnsville, OH. Carol was an avid reader and enjoyed the peacefulness of the outdoors and traveling. The family would like to thank the Meadows of Kalida memory care and Putnam County Home Health and Hospice for their care of Carol during her battle with dementia. In lieu of flowers, the Family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Visitation will be held at Hartman Funeral home on Friday September 13, 2024 from 4 to 8 in the evening. Funeral services will held at St. Anthony’s Church in Columbus Grove on Saturday September 14, 2024 at 10am with Father David Ritchie officiating. Burial will follow at Ottawa River Cemetery, Rimer, Ohio
