Francis “Bob” Duling, 82, of Glandorf, passed away at 1:35 a.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 20, 1942, in Glandorf to the late Alphons and Clara (Fuerst) Duling. On October 23, 1965, he married Catherine “Cathy” Schnipke, who survives in Glandorf. Other survivors include four sons: Jeffrey (Brenda) Duling, Scott (Deanna Trombley) Duling, Nicholas (Gayle) Duling and Timothy (Jennifer) Duling, all of Glandorf; nine grandchildren: Kara (Anthony) Dunn, Nathan (Kialee) Duling, Kendra (John Bourne) Duling, Madison (Andrew) Schroeder, Benjamin Duling, Katie Duling, Natalie Duling, Erin (Craig) Recker and Maureen

(Jackson Muhleisen) Duling; three greatgrandchildren: Quinn Duling, Eli Duling, Maya Dunn and little girl Dunn on the way in October; five siblings: Paul (Janet) Duling, Tom (Mary Ann) Duling, John (Jane) Duling, Mary Joan (Mike) Altstaetter and

Ken (Becky) Duling; brothers-in-law: Edward Jr. (Mary Agnes) Schnipke, Harold (Sandy) Schnipke, Fred (Jane) Schnipke, Bill (Bonnie) Schnipke, Louis (Lisa) Schnipke and Tom (Donna) Schnipke; sistersinlaw: Dorothy Schnipke, Judy (Harold) Gerten, Janet (Ron) Brown and Anna (Tim) Recker; and friend, Kathy Schnipke. He was also preceded in death by in-laws: James Schnipke, Rosemary (Ray) Powell and Frank Schnipke. Robert was a graduate of Glandorf School, Lima Northwest Business School and the Toledo Diocesan 5-year Ministry Program. He was a veteran of the US Army National Guard 148th Infantry. Robert was a lifelong farmer, owner/operator of Duling Trucking and past Soil and Water Board Supervisor. He practiced NO-TILL methods since 1970’s and received the Conservation Award. He was the creator of “Duling BBQ Pork” in 1974. Robert was a member of the Ottawa Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Knight, Ottawa Fraternal Order of Eagles, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf and its Men’s Society, where he served as past lector, usher, Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, and participant of the Bereavement Team, RCIA Team, Cana 11 Team and Marriage Encountered Couples. He also served on St. John’s Parish Council and Finance Council for a time. Robert taught sophomore high school religious formation classes and was on the Founder’s Club at Florida’s Ave Maria City University, C.PP.S Companion, Past Convenor of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, and was a benefactor of the C.PP.S Missionary Hearts, Glenmary Missions, and the Sylvania Sisters of St. Francis. Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who dearly loved his family. He enjoyed traveling, especially to look at farm crops, and made many drives through the John Deere machinery lots.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Matt Keller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Ottawa American Legion, AMVETS, VFW and DAV. Visitation will be held from 12 to 4 p.m. on Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa and 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
