OTTAWA – Dennis J. Moening, 76, of Ottawa, passed away at 4:55 a.m., Monday, June 2, 2025, at The Meadows of Ottawa. He was born May 16, 1949, in Lima to the late Leander and Alberta (Ricker) Moening. On August 23, 1969, he married Linda Ellerbrock, who survives in Ottawa.
 Other survivors include three children: Douglas (Marlene) Moening of Highland, MI, Russell Moening of Ottawa and Jill (Curt) Ellis of Hilliard; six grandchildren: Daniel Moening, Alex (Amanda Lamb) Moening, Jon Moening, Annabell Moening, Chase Ellis and Carter Ellis; six siblings: Ray (Joan) Moening of Ft. Jennings, Barb Kleman of Ottawa, Janet Peck of Kalida, Donna (Gary) Miller of Bluffton, Gary (Kathy) Moening of Glandorf and Mike (Jane) Moening of Glandorf; a sister-in-law, Carol Moening of Ottawa; and two brothers-in-law, Dick Cramer of NC and James Recker of Glandorf.
 He was also preceded in death by two siblings: Eileen Cramer and Richard Moening; a brother-in-law, Norman Kleman; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Recker.
 Denny was a graduate of Ottawa-Glandorf High School and went on to serve in the Army National Guard for seven years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, where he was formerly in charge of maintenance and was an Usher and Eucharistic Minister for many years. He was also a member of the Ottawa Eagles and VFW. Denny owned his own construction business, Moening Construction, and remodeled homes. He was a very talented woodworker, building furniture, clocks, and anything his family wanted. All they had to do was give him a picture, and he could build it. Denny was always willing to help anyone who asked for help. He loved helping others, including the Glandorf Lions Club with their many projects around the Glandorf Park. Denny enjoyed camping, country music, and having a beer with his friends. His grandchildren and children were very important to him. He always enjoyed their visits.
 Funeral Mass will begin 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Matt Keller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and one hour prior to mass on Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
