Ronald P. Edelbrock

KALIDA Ronald P. Edelbrock, 85, born September 20, 1939 in Kalida to the late Alex and Agnes (Bockrath) Edelbrock, passed away 12:15 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025 at his residence. Ron was a life long member of Kalida St. Michael’s. On May 28, 1962, he married his best friend, Arlene (Rode) Edelbrock, the daughter of Frank and Regina Rode of Delphos. Arlene passed away at their home in Kalida on December 26, 2005. Ron missed Arlene, the love of his life, every day for the rest of his days.
 He is survived by 4 children: Mark (Amy) Edelbrock of Columbus Grove, Jon (Jennifer) Edelbrock of Kalida, Jeff (Lisa) Edelbrock of Bowling Green and Gina (Brian) Chamberlin of Ottawa; 9 grandchildren: Victoria (Austin) Durnell, Joseph Edelbrock, Maddison (Marty) Essert, Morggan Edelbrock, Alexander Edelbrock, Quinn Edelbrock, Ethan Edelbrock, Claire Edelbrock and Zachary (Alexandria) Chamberlin; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Mary Ann (Jerry) Miller and Terri (Roger) McGlone; and a brother: Ken (Becky) Edelbrock.
 He is preceded in death by 2 brothers: Richard (Carole) Edelbrock and Norman Edelbrock.
 Ron retired from General Motors Foundry, Defiance on the first day of 1998 with 25 years of service and 30 years credited. In his younger days, Ron had a paper route in elementary school and worked for a local farmer throughout high school. Following his graduation from Kalida High School in 1957, he worked for Hohenbrink Excavating, Ottawa, Coca Cola, Lima, Buckeye Sugars, Ottawa and UPS, Lima. Following his retirement he busied himself with small jobs of carpentry, wood working, plumbing and electrical and general “fixing” for his family and friends.
 Ron served his community by volunteering throughout his life as well. He served on Kalida Volunteer Fire Department, where he was also a past captain and assistant fire chief. He volunteered his time and talents with the Putnam County Historical Society, serving as treasurer, the Putnam County Habitat for Humanity, the Putnam County food bank, Ottawa. He also volunteered in Florida with Habitat for Humanity, Arcadia, FL. While in Arizona he volunteered for many organizations; such as Goodyear Ballpark for the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians Spring Training, Goodyear; ASU Deer Creek Petroglyph Preserve, Phoenix; Goodyear Farms Historic Cemetery, Avondale and the Phoenix International Raceway, Avondale, just to name a few.
 Ron’s funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Phil Smith officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
