Farm economy suffering

Farmers are in a tough spot. Fertilizer prices are spiking and crop prices are not high enough to cover the costs. The bright spots are on the livestock and dairy side with much higher prices and profits. For grain farmers; with a late drought, yields and prices are not high enough to make much money.

Continental Council lauds new flagpole installation, Fall Festival this weekend

CONTINENTAL — Tuesday evening’s council meeting started on time despite the absence of council member Dan Sullivan who joined at 7:15 pm and Mayor Mathew Miller who joined at 7:30 pm after the “Team Gray” youth soccer team he coaches beat their “Team Black” rivals 3-2. Council member Jordan Streicher stepped in to run the meeting in the Mayor’s absence.

A return to Glandorf’s musical garden

GLANDORF — On Aug. 5, a story ran in the Sentinel about the new Musical Garden in Glandorf Park. We reported then that decorative painting had started at the site and how at their August meeting the Glandorf Village Council had discussed its progress and funding. The project was independent of the parks and the village, but council had discussed whether the park board would consider contributing to help it continue without delay. The project would then reimburse the park board once their fundraising was complete.
