LEIPSIC — For this year’s last Chrome & Coffee Cruise-In (August 10), as it had been for many of the Leipsic Methodist Church’s cruise-in events, it was a good showing of classic cars and friendly people. It was a cooler day than it had recently been this season and attendees were enjoying the blue skies, classic tunes & refreshments, and car conversations.
LIMA- Ted R. Miller 88, passed away on August 21, 2024 at Mercy Health, Tiffin. Ohio. He was born April 9, 1936 in Columbus Grove, Ohio to Kenneth E.Miller and Calla (Dielman) Miller who preceded him in death. On May 21, 1958 he married Fairy Leming who passed away on December 9, 2018. Friends may call at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, Ohio on Monday, August 26, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Services will be Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Rich Rakay presiding. Burial will follow service at Osborn Cemetery, Columbus Grove, Ohio. Donations may be made to Putnam County Hospice.
C O N T I N E N T A L Christine A. (Kukay) Slattman, 74, of Continental, passed away at 10:30 a.m.
Margene (Brown) Sheidler, formally of Ottawa passed away at 100 years old in Ocala, Florida. Margene was born on May 23,1924 in Hamler, Ohio to Nana (George) and Julian Brown. She grew up on a farm near Belmore and graduated from BGSU with a degree in education. Margene married Jack Sheidler December 27, 1945. They were married for 76 years until Jack passed away in 2021. Margene taught school for 30 years. She began her teaching career in Tiffin, Ohio and then continued in Glandorf and finally moved to Ottawa where she retired. After retirement Margene and Jack moved from their home in Pandora to Florida, finally settling in Ocala. Margene attended Ocala First United Methodist and was an avid gardener, loved to play cards and travel with Jack. She was preceded in death by sisters Bernice Maidlow of Ottawa and Norma Vogel of Loveland, Colorado.

OTTAWA — The Ottawa Library, closed for a period of time this month for renovations, had a grand reopening last Tuesday to celebrate the Putnam County District Library’s 100th Year with a reveal of the newly renovated Children’s Area.
FORT JENNINGS—in Putnam County, Fort Jennings comes alive each year, celebrating its history and remembering veterans who fought for our freedoms. Activities on Saturday included war reenactments in the park, helicopter rides, and the 1812 encampment for those inclined to focus on history.
