CLEVELAND — Ottawa-Glandorf swimmers Luke Kleman and Kathryn Samuelson earned spots in next weeks OHSAA Division II state swim meet in Canton Friday evening.
Kleman and Samuelson earned automatic qualifying bids from the Division II district meet at Cleveland State University. The top two finishers in each event earned automatic bids to the state meet. AN additional 16 swimmers in each event will be added from at-large berths from all the districts across the state.
Kleman, a junior, earned his state bid in the 200 Freestyle where he finished second in 1:48.68. Ontario's Tyler Watson won the 200 Freestyle by a half second over Kleman with a time of 1:48.15.
Samuelson, a sophomore, advanced in the 100 Backstroke with a second place finish. Samuelson finished second in 1:00.44 to earn her spot at state. Hannah Stevenson of Lexington won the event in a record time of 53.73 as she broke her own district record time of 56.73 set last year.
The O-G boys finished 11th in the team standings with 91 points. The Lady Titans were also 11th with 86 points.
