SPENCERVILLE — The Spencerville track squads lead the Columbus Grove squads after day one of the Northwest Conference track and field meet on the Bearcats home track.
The Lady Bearcats lead the Lady Bulldogs 32-22 after three events were completed Thursday evening. Bluffton is third with 17 points.
On the boys side, Spencerville had a 47-38 lead on Columbus Grove with Lincolnview third with 18 points with four events scored.
The Grove boys have two wins in the meet as their 3200 meter relay team of Alex Giesige, Colton Grothaus, Boone Brubaker and Bryce Sharrits won in 8:28.57. Baily Clement won the high jump as he cleared 5-10.
Kyle Shafer was second in the pole vault as he cleared 12-4 and Rece Roney was fourth in the shot put with a throw of 45-4. Will Vorhees was sixth in the shot put with a throw of 42-3 1/2.
On the girls side, Lynea Diller won the discus with a throw of 127-8, while Mackenzie Clymer was fourth in the long jump with a leap of 13-10 and Hallie Malsam was fifth with a leap of 13-8 1/4. The Bulldogs 3200 Relay team of Sydni Smith, Leah Myerholtz, Kirsten Malsam and Alexis Ricker were sixth in 11:24.7.
The NWC meet concludes Saturday with the remaining field events starting at 10:30 a.m. and the running finals at 12:30 p.m.
