Rockets rally for PCL baseball win

PANDORA — Once again Pandora-Gilboa's baseball team needed a late rally to claim a win.
After Continental tied the game in the top of the sixth, the Rockets scored twice in the bottom of the inning as they went on to post a 9-7 Putnam County League win.
Continental had an early 6-0 lead scoring three times in the first and second innings. The Rockets battled back to tie the game with a run in the third and five runs in the fourth inning. P-G took the lead with a run in the fifth setting up the sixth inning.
Brian Schneck (2-2) picked up the win as he went 5 2/3 innings allowing a run on four hits with three strikeouts and a walk.
Dustin Rieman had a double and two RBIs for the Rockets (2-2, 7-6), while TK Kopplinger and Alex Osborn both had a double. Seth Schmenk had a single and two RBIs.
Page Thomas took the loss for Continental as he worked two innings allowing three runs on three hits.
Terry Dockery III had a single and double for the Pirates and scored three runs.
Miller City 4
MILLER CITY — Liberty-Benton scored six times in the fifth inning on their way to a 9-4 non-league win over Miller City.
The Wildcats had a 4-3 lead after scoring times in the fourth inning before the Eagles fifth inning outburst. Jared Neiling tied the game on a bloop single to right field before a throwing error plated the go-ahead run and a second run.
Liberty-Benton scored twice in the game stealing home plate as the runner on third scored when the runner stealing second base get caught in a run down allowing his teammate to score. Both times the Eagles pulled the play off with two outs in the inning.
John Dager picked up the win for the Eagles in relief as he went 3 1/3 innings not allowing a run on one hit. Caleb Russell started and went 3 2/3 innings allowing four runs on three hits.
Jared Neiling and Dager both had two singles for the Eagles (12-0).
Jackson Lammers (2-1) took the loss for Miller City as he went 4 2/3 innings allowing nine runs, five earned on six hits with three strikeouts and four walks. Adam Drummelsmith finished the game.
Drummelsmith and Jeremy Balbaugh both had a single and RBI for the Wildcats (8-3). Hunter Berner picked up an RBI on a sacrifice fly and Corbin Niese walked with the bases loaded for RBIs.
Columbus Grove 15
ADA - Visiting Columbus Grove scored in every inning to post a 15-1 Northwest Conference baseball win over Ada Thursday evening.
The run-rule shortened, five-inning defeat dropped Ada to 2-10 overall and 0-4 in NWC play. Meanwhile, Columbus Grove improved to 7-7 and 2-3 in league action with the victory.
Grove out-hit Ada 11-2 and put the game away with a seven-run outburst in the top of the fifth frame.
Elisha Jones picked up the win for the Bulldogs.
