PEMBERVILLE — For the second straight day, Ottawa's American Legion baseball team banged out double digit hits.
Unlike Wednesday evening when Post 63 had trouble coming through with clutch hits to drive in runs, Ottawa had one big inning and continued to drive in runs as Post 63 claimed a 14-1, eight inning, win over Maumee in Pemberville.
The win advances Ottawa to a Friday night contest with Findlay at Flag City Field in Findlay. Game time is 7 p.m. Findlay dropped into the losers bracket with a 9-3 loss to Toledo.
Ottawa banged out 15 hits Thursday evening as Jacob Lerch and Brandon Benroth led the way with three hits each. Blake Hoffman and Tyler Zender both had two hits in the win.
Maumee took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning only to see Ottawa come up in the top of the second and score seven runs as they sent 11 batters to the plate.
Post 63 added two runs to their lead in the fourth, scored a run in the seventh and finished the game with a four run eighth inning in which Zender had a solo home for Post 63 to start the inning.
Wes Rickenberg picked up the win for Post 63 as he went five innings allowing a run on three hits with 10 strikeouts and four walks. Luke Schimmoeller finished the game not allowing a run on five hits.
Brad Stolly and Lerch both had two RBIs in the win for Ottawa.
