CONTINENTAL — For one quarter, Continental had their offense rolling.

After the Pirates scored 22 points in the first quarter, the Ottoville defense picked up holding Continental to 22 points the rest of the game in recording a 65-44 Putnam County league win.

Continental outscored the visiting Big Green 22-20 in the first quarter, then failed to reach double digits in another quarter the rest of the night. Ottoville had a 37-30 halftime lead with a 17-8 second quarter scoring run, then continued to pull away with a 13-5 third quarter scoring advantage.

Nick Moorman paced the Big Green with 16 points and Ryan Bendele added 14 points. Ryan Suever had 13 points and seven rebounds for Ottoville.

Caleb Olds led the Pirates with 12 points and Dylan Coleman added 11 points.

Continental won the junior varsity game 42-40.

Miller City 52

Kalida 42

MILLER CITY — Miller City overcame a first quarter deficit Friday night to defeat Putnam County League rival Kalida 52-42.

Miller City trailed 15-10 after the opening quarter before outscoring Kalida18-9 in the second quarter for a 28-24 halftime lead. Miller City pushed their lead to seven points after three quarters, 37-30, before closing out the win.

Miller City improved to 4-2 in the league and 12-7 overall, while Kalida dropped to 4-2 in the league and 13-5 overall.

The loss by Kalida gives Pandora-Gilboa at-least a share of the PCL title as the Rockets are 5-0 in the league and everyone else has at-least two PCL setbacks. The Rockets can claim an outright PCL next Saturday when they visit Fort Jennings.

LEIPSIC — Van Buren overcame a halftime deficit to defeat Leipsic 61-50 in Blanchard Valley Conference action Friday night.

The Vikings had a solid first half building a 35-25 halftime lead. It was a different story in the second half as the Black Knights outscored the Vikings 36-15 for the win. A 19-7 run by Van Buren in the third quarter gave them the lead going to the fourth quarter.

Matthew Ayers led the Black Knights (11-7) with 23 points as he canned four three-pointers and Coonor Ohlrich added 12 points.

Cole Rieman paced the Vikings (7-10) with 12 points and five steals and Tyler Hiegel had 11 points and four rebounds. Reese Mangas pulled down five rebounds for Leipsic.

Van Buren won the junior varsity game 41-25.

Pandora-Gilboa 72

Vanlue 36

VANLUE — Pandora-Gilboa remained undefeated in the Blanchard Valley Conference Friday night with a 72-36 win over Vanlue.

The 14th ranked Rockets, Division IV, moved to 9-0 in the BVC and 16-1 overall. North Baltimore sits in second place at 7-1. The Rockets are at Liberty-Benton next Friday.

HARROD — Columbus Grove went on the road Friday night and claimed an 85-47 Northwest Conference win.

The Bulldogs (3-3 NWC) were up 43-16 at halftime and 67-25 after three quarters. No other details of the game were available.
