OTTOVILLE — Ottoville grabbed a quick lead Thursday evening as the Big Green raced past rival Fort Jennings 60-38 in Putnam County League action.

The win keeps the Big Green in second place in the PCL at 5-1 and they are 8-7 overall. Ottoville is a game behind Leipsic (5-0) for the PCL lead. The Musketeers drop to 0-5 in the league and 2-14 overall.

The Big Green jumped out to a 21-8 first quarter lead as Taylor Mangas led the early Ottoville scoring with six points. Seven different players scored for the Big Green in the opening quarter.

Ottoville continued to pull away in the second quarter with a 14-11 scoring advantage for a 35-19 halftime advantage. Tayloe Mangas scored six more points in the second quarter, while Monica Sarka and Alicia Honigford both had four points. Cassie Lindeman led the Musketeers with seven points and Emily Kehres had four points.

Both teams had trouble scoring in the third quarter as the Big Green managed a 9-4 scoring edge. The two teams heated up in the final quarter as Ottoville posted a 16-15 scoring edge.

Taylor Mangas led the Big Green with a game high 17 points. Annie Lindeman finished with nine points, Alicia Honigford had eight and Brooke Mangas had seven points.

Lindeman led the Musketeers with nine points and Jenna Calvelage had eight points. Kylie Jettinghoff chipped in with seven points.

Ottoville won the junior varsity game 48-22.

 

Leipsic 60

Hardin Northern 8

LEIPSIC — Leipsic's defense gave the Hardin Northern offense fits all game long as the Vikings cruised to a 60-8 Blanchard Valley Conference win.

The Polar Bears scored four points in the first half and four points in the second half. The Vikings scored all the points they would need in the first quarter as they outscored Hardin Northern 19-2. A 15-2 run in the second quarter had the Vikings up 34-4 at halftime.

Haley Gerten led the Vikings (6-1, 13-3) with 13 points and Shalynn Morman finished with 11. Amber Gerdeman had nine points for Leipsic.

Brooklynn Watts had three points and three rebounds for the Polar Bears (1-6, 2-14).

Leipsic won the junior varsity game 43-27.

 

Ottawa-Glandorf 68

Kenton 24

KENTON — Ottawa-Glandorf remained in the thick of the Western Buckeye League race Thursday night with a 68-24 win over Kenton.

The Titans are 5-1 in the league and 14-2 overall, a game behind Bath (6-0, 13-1) in the standings.

 

Columbus Grove 66

Spencerville 50

SPENCERVILLE — Columbus Grove picked up a Northwest Conference win Thursday night as they defeated Spencerville 66-50.

The Bulldogs are 4-1 in the league.

 

Arcadia 60

Pandora-Gilboa 44

PANDORA — Arcadia kept their Blanchard Valley Conference hopes alive Thursday night with a 60-44 win over Pandora-Gilboa.

The Redskins are 6-1 in the league and 10-3 overall, while P-G is 3-3 in the conference and 7-7 overall.
