BOWLING GREEN - Paulding's zone defense gave Ottawa-Glandorf fits for three quarters.
In the fourth quarter, the Titans were able to solve that zone to hit a couple of big shots that helped them to a 36-32 win over the Panthers in the Division III championship game at the Stroh Center on the campus of Bowling Green State University.
The win advances the Titans (15-10) to the Division III regional at the Stroh Center Wednesday where they will play Huron at 8 p.m.
Ottawa-Glandorf trailed 21-19 entering the final quarter after closing the third quarter with a 5-0 run as Brad Recker hit a three-pointer.
Noah Bramlage tied the game at 21-21 with 7:25 left to play with two free throws. After a Paulding turnover, Bramlage gave O-G the lead with a three-pointer from the corner when the Panthers defense was slow to come out and cover him.
Paulding's Kyle Kauser tied the game with a three-pointer before Alex Schroeder came back down the court and hit a step back three-pointer that gave O-G the lead for good. The Titans took a four point lead on a free throw by Bramlage and they would hold four four point leads in the remaining 3:40 of the game as the teams traded points.
Ottawa-Glandorf hit 9-of-13 free throws after Schroeder's three-pointer and needed every one of them as the Panthers continued to overcome the deficit.
A Treston Gonzales off-balance lay-up pulled the Panthers within 33-31 with 38.9 seconds left. Schroeder and Javier Gonzales traded free throws to keep the margin at two. Bramlage then sank two free throws with 10.3 seconds left for the final margin as a long three-pointer by Paulding in the final seconds was off the mark and Bramlage rebounded the ball and held it to run out the clock.
Bramlage led the Titans with 19 points and nine rebounds. Brad Recker added six points and Tyler Zender pulled down seven rebounds.
Kauser led the Panthers (18-7) with 10 points and Treston Gonzales had eight points and six rebounds.
