O-G wraps up outright WBL title

ELIDA — Ottawa-Glandorf used another solid pitching performance Tuesday evening to defeat Elida 4-0 in Western Buckeye League action at Ed Sandy Field.
The win gives the Titans their first outright WBL championship as they finished league play at 8-1 and are 14-4 overall. Elida is 0-6 in the league and 7-14 overall.
Matt Warnecke had a solid game for the Titans not allowing a run on three hits with five strikeouts. Warnecke added a two run single in the sixth to break the game open.
Tyler Zender had a single and double with two RBIs and Tanner Schimmoeller had a single and double for O-G.
CONTINENTAL — A sixth inning run proved to be the difference as Continental defeated Lincolnview 5-4 in non-league action.
The Pirates (3-11) had a 4-3 lead after both teams scored in the fourth inning. Continental made it a two run game with a run in the bottom of the sixth and the Lancers made things interesting with a run in the top of the seventh.
Austin Mansfield (3-4) picked up the win for the Pirates as he allowed four runs on five hits.
Jacob Williams had two singles for Continental, while Terry Dockery III, Page Thomas and Vernon Prowant all had a single.
Kyle Williams took the loss for the Lancers.
Allen East 7
KALIDA — Allen East pitcher Braden Goodwin tossed a complete game shutout against Kalida Tuesday evening as the Mustangs won 7-0 in non-league action.
Goodwin went the distance not allowing a run on five hits with eight strikeouts.
Allen East had a 1-0 lead before scoring three times in the third inning.
Tanner Stippich had two singles and a double, while Travis Wireman had a single and double with an RBI.
Trent Gerding took the loss for Kalida as he worked two innings. Austin Swift had two hits for the Wildcats.
