More athletes head to podium at state

COLUMBUS — Ottawa-Glandorf senior Matias Trampe-Kindt led a parade of more Putnam County track athletes to the awards stand Saturday as the OHSAA state track and field meet wrapped up at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
Trampe-Kindt finished third in the Division II 1600 meter run for the top placement of the day among local athletes.
Trampe-Kindt finished third in the 1600 with a time of 4:20.30. The time was a new school record for O-G that was held by Trampe-Kindt at 4:23.76 set in 2013. CVCA's Ryan Adams won the 1600 in 4:18.44 and Chargrin Falls Joe Bistritz was second in 4:18.8.
The placement was second for Trampe-Kindt at the state meet as he was part of O-G 3200 relay team that placed on Friday.
The Titan girls had two relay teams make it to the podium on Saturday as well.
O-G's 4x200 relay team of Megan Siefker, Michelle Maag, Elissa Ellerbrock and Madison Stechschulte finished sixth in 1:44.11. while the 4x400 relay team of Maag, Anna Bellman, Stechschulte and Ellerbrock also finished sixth in 4:01.65.
Stechschulte just missed making the podium in the 100 and 200 meter dash finals as she finished ninth in both races.
The Columbus Grove girls had a pair of relay teams place Saturday in the Division III state finals.
The Bulldogs' 4x200 relayteam of Raiya Flores, Kristin Wynn, Sydney McCluer and Julia Wynn were sixth in 1:45.45 and the 4x100 relay team of Flores, Julia Wynn, Linnea Stephens and McCluer were seventh in 50.47.
Continental's Paige Ordway finished seventh in the 300 hurdles with a time of 45.33. It was Ordway's second placement at state as she also finished seventh in the long jump Friday.
Columbus Grove's Bryce Sharrits finished sixth in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:57.88. It was the second placement for Sharrits on the weekend as the Bulldogs 3200 meter relay team finished seventh on Friday.
