VAN BUREN — Van Buren scored four times in the fifth inning to defeat Miller City 9-6 in non-league girls softball action Wednesday afternoon.
The Wildcats and Black Knights were tied 4-4 going to the bottom of the fifth when Van Buren erupted for four runs and the win.
Nichole Miller was the winning pitcher for Van Buren. Miller and Erin Neall both had two hits for the Black Knights (2-1).
Kylee Ricker (0-1) took the loss for Miller City. Alissa Schnipke went 4 for 4 for the Wildcats (0-2) with three doubles, a single and two RBI. Janke VanWezel and Tiffany Welty both had a pair of singles for Miller City.
