KALIDA — Leipsic held off a late Kalida rally to post a wild 13-12 Putnam County League win Thursday.

The Vikings had a 10-1 lead after scoring six times in the top of the third inning. The Wildcats battled back scoring three runs in both of the third and fourth innings and added two runs in the fifth to pull within 10-9.

Both teams scored three times in the sixth inning to make the score 13-12 going to the seventh inning. After the Vikings failed to pad their lead in the top of the seventh, the Wildcats had two runners on base before Leipsic closed out the game.

Bailee Sickmiller picked up the win for Leipsic as she worked five innings in relief of starter Summer Steingass.

Courtney Amrine had two hits and drove in three runs, while Kierra Meyer had a single and double with two RBIs, while Steingass and Jala Hazelton both had two singles and two RBIs. Heather Lammers had a single and double with an RBI.

Emily Buss took the loss for Kalida in relief of Julia Vandemark.

Hannah Smith had two singles and two RBIs for Kalida and Emily Buss had two singles and an RBI. Taylor Zeller had a home run and an RBI and Hannah Warn had three singles and scored a run.

MIDDLE POINT — Columbus Grove picked up a key Northwest Conference win Thursday with a 14-2 win over Lincolnview.
