LEIPSIC - Visiting Ada used a power show to score seven runs in the fifth inning and five in the second to lead to a 16-0 shutout of Leipsic in a non-league softball game Tuesday evening.
Senior catcher Ashley Windle slammed two home runs, a grand slam and a three-run shot, to pace the potent Lady Bulldog offense. She also smacked a double, singled and drove in a career-high eight runs.
"Windle had a huge night," said Ada head coach Ken Jochims.
Ashley Sumner pitched a one-hit shutout with seven strikeouts over five innings in the run-rule shortened game. She improved to 4-0 this spring with the victory.
"Sumner was solid pitching tonight," added Jochims.
Senior outfielder Alexis Gonzaga knocked out three singles and drove in a run. Junior Tori Wyss clubbed a two-run homer.
Junior Alexis Amburgey hit an RBI single while senior Katelyn Guagenti stroked a run-scoring hit and sophomore Megan Simon singled.
Steffan singled for the lone Leipsic safety. Ada out-hit the hosts, 11-1.
The big win lifted the Ada record to 8-3 while the Vikings fell to 4-9.
