KALIDA — Kalida scored three times in the fourth inning Thursday afternoon to defeat Fort Jennings 3-2 in Putnam County League action.

The Musketeers had a 1-0 lead going to the bottom of the fourth after they scored in the first inning. In the fourth inning, the Wildcats tied the game on a suicide squeeze bunt before Josh Recker connected for a two run double.

Ft. Jennings scored their second run in the seventh inning and had two runners on base before Kalida starter Owen Recker struck out the next two batters to end the game.

Recker (2-0) picked up the win as he went the distance allowing two unearned runs on five hits with 13 strikeouts and three walks.

Owen Recker had a double and single in the game for Kalida (3-0, 6-2), while Josh Recker had a double and drove in two runs.

Brandon Wehri took the loss for the Musketeers (0-2, 5-5) as he went the distance allowing three runs on three hits with nine strikeouts and four walks.

Kyle Norbeck had a double for the Musketeers.

LEIPSIC — Miller City banged out a pair of home runs Thursday as the Wildcats bounced back from a tough loss on Wednesday to defeat Leipsic 14-1 in Putnam County League action.

Chase Kuhlman and Drew Johnston slammed home runs for the Wildcats as they also got doubles from Cole Niese, Tyler Schroeder and Noah Otto. Kuhlman drove in three runs for the Wildcats and Niese had a pair of RBIs.

Miller City (2-2, 3-4) started the scoring with two runs in the first inning before adding three runs in the second and scoring five times in the third inning. Leipsic scored their lone run in the second inning, while Miller City scored a run in at least every inning.

Johnston picked up the win as he went 3 1/3 innings and Otto finished the game. Leipsic was held to just one hit in the game.

Kuhlman, Johnston, Niese and Otto all had a single to go with their extra base hit and Eli Ellerbrock had two singles.

Wes Garcia took the loss for Leipsic (0-1, 2-3). The Vikings committed five errors in the game.
