PANDORA — Holgate scored in their first at-bat and their last as they defeated Pandora-Gilboa 10-0 in a Division IV sectional final WEdnesday evening.
The win advances the Tigers to the district semi-finals next Wednesday where they will face the Patrick Henry and Wayne Trace winner at 2 p.m. at Elida. The Patriots and Raiders will play Thursday afternoon weather permitting. The Rockets bowed out of the tournament with a 10-12 record.
Holgate came out swinging as they scored eight runs in the opening inning. The Tigers added two runs in the seventh inning.
The first inning was all Holgate starter Klingshirn needed as he shut down the Rockets on four hits with nine strikeouts and he walked one.
Stober had a single and double for the Tigers, while Gonzales had two singles.
Brian Schneck (4-4) took the loss for P-G as he went the distance allowing 10 runs, three earned, on nine hits. He walked four and struck out four.
Jared Tousley had a double for the Rockets, while Jacob Basinger, Reed Hovest and Schneck all had a single.
