ELIDA —  The Columbus Grove girls cross country team continued  their strong 2017 season with another strong showing at the Elida Invitational held
Tuesday at the middle School.

The Bulldog girls ran away with the team title with only 19 points, well ahead of runner-up Lincolnview (53), Bath (76), and Ottawa-Glandorf (114).     
Columbus Grove occupied half of the top 8 spots with sophomore Alyssa Ellerbrock leading the way with a first place time of 19:28.  Senior Taylor Ellerbrock was runner-up in 20:24, along with Erin Downing (3rd, 20:47), Sydney Wittborg (5th, 21:12) and Leanndra Price (8th, 21:39).

The Lincolnview boys also had a large margin of victory in the final team standing with 23 points, well ahead of Columbus Grove (76), Ottawa-Glandorf (94), and Elida (115).

The Lancer boys one-upped the Grove girls with 5 runners in the top 8 lead by junior standout Karter Tow with a runner-up finish and Jacob Keysor (17:33) third.  Tow and Keysor pushed first place finisher Brendan Siefker (16:16) for the first mile until the Ottoville senior began to pull away in the woods.  Alek Bowersock (17:42) was 4th and sophomore Joe Sadowsk(18:38) was eighth in the final standings for Lincolnview.

Boys team runner-up Columbus Grove had a strong showing in the top 20 with Grant Mumaugh (5th, 17:45), Jordan Bellman (13th, 18:58), Breece Pingle (17th, 19:17), and Jacob Bish (18th, 19:18).

The O-G boys were paced by senior Brent Siefker (9th, 18:42), Parker Schomaeker (15th, 19:10), and Max Buddelmeyer (16th, 19:11).

Maggie Rump landed in the top 20 for the Titan girls with a finish of 22:54 for 16th place. Joining Rump for Ottawa-Glandorf was Samantha Freeman (28th, 23:58),Emily Hamel (30th, 23:59), Allison Schroeder (32nd, 24:13) and Gracie Hays (38th, 25:42).  

Along with Siefker for the Ottoville Big Green was Kyle Looser (32nd, 20:10), freshman Cooper Hanneman (21:50), Cole Furley (23:29), Kaiden Trentman (24:22), Jacob King (28:59), and Adam Kimmett (34:40).

The Lady Big Green ran in a pack for the first half of the race before Paige Hoerston pulled away to finish 19th in 23:05. McKenna Byrne (24:04) landed in 31st place and Brittney Schleeter crossed the line in 26:09.

The season continues for the smaller schools with a district warm-up meet on the Ottawa Park on Saturday for the Ottawa-Glandorf Blue and Gold Invitational. The first race is scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
