LEIPSIC – Miller City scored six times in the eighth inning Monday to defeat Leipsic 9-3 in Putnam County League action.

With pitchers dominating the action, the two teams entered the seventh inning tied at 1-1. Both teams then scored twice in the seventh inning, with the Vikings scoring their two runs after two were out in the bottom of the seventh.

In the top of the eighth, Miller City pushed across six runs for the win.

Kylee Ricker (1-1) picked up the win as she went the distance allowing three runs on seven hits with 10 strikeouts and a walk.

Liz Schimmoeller had a double and RBI for the Wildcats (1-0, 2-2). Morgan Inkrott had two singles and two RBI, while Alissa Schnipke and Cassie Niese both had a single and RBI. Janke VanWezel and Ricker both had a single and RBI.

Ha Gerten took the loss for Leipsic (1-1, 1-6) as she allowed nine runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts and a walk.

Emily Ellerbrock went 4 for 4 for the Vikings with two RBI and Maddie Steffan had a triple and RBI. Snyder had two singles for Leipsic.
