COLDWATER — Ottawa-Glandorf’s Carly Alt and coach Ann Ellerbrock were among the award winners as the District 8 Volleyball Coaches Association released their list of award winners for the 2017 season.

Overall 11 players and one coach were recognized by the association for their efforts this season.

Alt, a senior, was named the Division III Player of the Year, while Ellerbrock was named the Coach of the Year for the schools in the east portion of District 8 for Divisions I-II and III.

Alt was named to the Division I-II-III first team along with teammates Brooke Kleman and Kendra Kahle. The three players and coach Ellerbrock also will be part of the District 8 all-star match night at Coldwater High School on November 15. The District 8 all-star matches will be at 7 p.m. that evening.

In Division IV, eight players received either first or second team honors from the coaches.

Named to the Division IV first team were Ottoville’s Bridget Landin and CJ Kemper, Leipsic’s Hayley Heitmeyer and Kierra Meyer, Carlee McCluer, Columbus Grove and Paige Fenstermaker, Pandora-Gilboa. Abby Schroeder, Miller City, and Paige Bellman, Columbus Grove, were named to the second team.

Melina Woods, Ada, was the Division IV East Player of the Year and Paige Jones, New Bremen, was the Player of the Year for the West teams.

New Bremen coach Diana Kramer was the West Division Coach of the Year, while Melissa Gossard, Ada, and Steve Clark, Arlington, were the East Coaches of the Year

Seven players and one coach will be taking part in the Division IV all-star games, also at Coldwater, on Nov. 15.

Playing for the East squad are Meyer, Fenstermaker, McCluer, Bellman and Schroeder. Landin and Kemper will suit up for the West team and Ottoville coach Kelsey Wolfe will help coach the West squad.
