COLUMBUS GROVE — For the third straight Friday night Columbus Grove’s
boys basketball team had to play overtime against a Northwest
After overtime games the past two weeks against
Lincolnview and Paulding, the Bulldogs were forced to play another
overtime game as Spencerville came calling. The Bearcats gave Grove a
1-2 record in these overtime games as Spsncerville pulled out a 56-53
The Bulldogs dipped to 2-2 in the NWC and 7-5 overall, while the Bearcats are unbeaten in the NWC at 5-0.
Grove forced overtime outscoring the Bearcats 9-6 in the fourth
quarter. In overtime, Spencerville used a 7-4 scoring edge for the win.
The Bulldogs were down 54-53 with 20 seconds left and they had the ball.
Grove was unable to get a score and the Bearcats sealed the win with
Columbus Grove had a 17-16 lead after the opening
quarter before trailing 30-29 at halftime. The Bearcats extended their
lead with a 13-11 third quarter scoring edge.
Ben Bowers had 18
points, with five three-pointers, for the Bearcats and Zach Goecke had
15 points. Dakota Prichard finished with 10 points for the Bearcats.
Vorhees led the Bulldogs with 18 points, while Jace Darbyshire had 15
points and Riley Brubaker added 11 points and seven rebounds. Vorhees
pulled down five rebounds along with four assists and five blocked
shots. Logan Diller had four assists for the Bulldogs.
Columbus Grove won the junior varsity game 42-25.

Fort Jennings 50
JENNINGS — Miller City outscored Fort Jennings in the second half
Friday night to record a 58-50 Putnam County League win at The Fort.
Musketeers had a 22-17 halftime lead before the Wildcats picked up
their game in the second half. Miller City grabbed the lead with a 20-10
third quarter scoring advantage, then finished the game with a 21-18
run in the fourth quarter.
Cory Heuerman led a balanced Wildcat
attack with 12 points, while Jackson Lammers and Jacob Gerten both had
11 points. Adam Niese added nine points and pulled down eight rebounds.
Heuerman had five steals in the win.
Connor Wallenhorst led the
Musketeers with 19 points and seven rebounds. Alex Berelsman had 12
