KALIDA - Norman J. Knott, 87, of Kalida died 8:00 a.m. Friday,  Feb. 7, 2014 at The Meadows of Kalida.  He was born April 26, 1926 in Columbus Grove to the late Albert and Emma (Selhorst) Knott.  On May 14, 1949, he married Dorothy Bracker.  She died June 13, 1998.

  Norm is survived by 2 sons: Denny (Sandy) Knott and Bob (Connie) Knott; 2 daughters: Karen (Ed) Kerner and Sandy (Norm) Schnipke all of Kalida; 8 grandchildren:  Christie Kerner, Keith (Amanda) Kerner, Kendra Kerner, Rhonda Schnipke, Ryan (Amy) Schnipke, Neil (Stephanie) Schnipke, Dean Schnipke and Brian Knott; 3 step-grandchildren: Bob (Gina) Karcher, Dennis Karcher and Kyle Kroeger; 5 great-grandchildren with one on the way and 4 step-great-grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by a son: Ken Knott; a daughter: Jan Knott; a great-granddaughter: Olivia Schnipke; a brother: Art Knott; and a sister: Drede Niese.

   Norm was a lifelong dairy and grain farmer.  He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida and its Holy Name Society, Kalida Lion's Club and Kalida Knights of Columbus.  He was an avid square and polka dancer, bowler and card player.

   A Mass of Christian Burial will begin 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 10, 2014 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph's  Catholic Cemetery, Ft. Jennings.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERL HOME, Jackson Township, where there will be a Holy Name Rosary at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

   Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor's choice.
