COLUMBUS GROVE — Kenneth Core Edwards, 89, died at 8:05pm on Sunday, March 9, 2014, at The Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora, Ohio.
Kenneth was born Oct. 26, 1924, in Columbus Grove, to the late William C. and Lula Zoa (Core) Edwards.
On Feb. 2, 1947, he married Margaret (McKinney) Edwards, who survives in Columbus Grove.
Kenneth was the proud father of two daughters, Jill Anne (Mark Zimmerman) Edwards, of New York City and Lisa Kay (Craig) Strapple, of Kettering, Ohio; and his only grandchild, Benjamin Core Reineke, of Kettering, Ohio.
He is preceded in death by two brothers Richard Edwards and Robert Edwards.
Kenny was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School, class of 1942. He served in the United States Navy during WWII with the Pacific fleet on board the aircraft carrier USS Barnes. He was a life long farmer and drove school bus 23 years, for the Columbus Grove School System. He was a member of Columbus Grove Christian Church, Eagles Aerie #2772, VFW Post #9648, Bower Slusser American Legion Post #516 all of Columbus Grove and a member of the Indian Lake Moose Lodge Aerie #1533.
His love of the land and of farming spilled over to his family. He cherished his family, especially Benjamin Core, his grandson, and his dog Kady, who had a special spot in his life. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather who will be sadly missed.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove with Pastors Geoffery Eubank and Dave Thompson, officiating. Burial will follow in Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove with military rites by the combined color guard of Columbus Grove VFW and American Legion.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. & 6 to 8 p.m. p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to the service at Hartman Sons Funeral Home.
