FT. JENNINGS — Joseph A. Deitering Jr., 76, died at 7 a.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at his daughter’s residence in Delphos.

He was born April 25, 1937, in Delphos, to the late Joseph A. and Loretta (Murray) Deitering.

Surviving are a daughter, Kim (Ben) Osting of Delphos; two grandchildren, Kane (Holly) Osting of Delphos and Cole (Allison Baker) Osting of Ft. Jennings; two great-grandchildren, Leia and Layne Osting; two sisters, Nova (Ralph) Suever of Elida and Mary Ann (Dick) McKinsey of Frankfort, Ind.; a brother, Larry (Diane) Deitering of Delphos; and special friends and neighbors Bob and Jeanie.

He was also preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Stoney Kill; and a brother, David Deitering.

Mr. Deitering worked at The Bending Company/Orbitron for 35 years. He attended both St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ft. Jennings and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville. His passion in life was gardening. He enjoyed giving away his produce to his family, friends and neighbors. He like fishing and woodworking. He loved to take long walks with his dogs.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ft. Jennings with Fr. Charles Obinwa officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ft. Jennings.
