OTTAWA — James P. Murphy, 86, of Ottawa, died at 5:02 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

He was born July 16, 1927 in Hermosa Beach, Calif. to the late Charles W. and Helen (Preston) Murphy. On Nov. 26, 1983, he married Shirley Ricker and she survives in Ottawa.

Also surviving is a daughter, Deb (Greg) Hoyt of Ottawa and three grandchildren, Jerrod Cass, Derek Westrick and Alisha Hoyt.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Doug Westrick and Kenneth Westrick; and a brother, Bob Murphy.

James was a truck driver for P.W. Chamberlin Trucking in Leipsic. He was a member of the Ottawa Eagles. He loved flowers, gardening and watching NASCAR.

Graveside services will begin at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 29, at Holy Family Cemetery, New Cleveland with Deacon Tom Niese officiating. There will be no visitation.
